CAS Professor Dale van Harlingen (physics) will give the CAS Annual Lecure early in September.

CAS/MillerComm lectures will be given by Arn Chorn-Pond, Naomi Klein, Leonard Marcus, Geoffrey Robertson and Mark Tessler among others.

At the intellectual heart of the University lies the Center for Advanced Study bringing together scholars from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, encouraging and rewarding excellence in all areas of academic inquiry.


Highlights:
CAS Professor Nick Holonyak, Jr., inventor of the first visible light-emitting diode (LED), will be inducted into the National Inventor's Hall of Fame in ceremonies to be held early in May, 2008.

CAS Professor Benita S. Katzenellenbogen was awarded an Honorary Degree (Laurea ad Honorem) from the University of Milan, Italy on November 26, 2007. Dr. Katzenellenbogen was recognized for “biomedical research that has advanced our understanding of the actions of estrogens and estrogen receptors in women’s health and diseases such as breast cancer”. During the formal awards ceremony, Dr. Katzenellenbogen presented a lecture on her recent research contributions.
